💚 I started with a cut board that I filled with a vibrant yellow-green that regularly calls to me. That base color is barely visible now, but it serves as a foundation that always speaks to me and influences the entire painting. I started sketching leaves, as it was fall season, and falling leaves were prevalent in my yard and on my mind. As always, I allowed the piece to evolve. I’m an observer as much a creator. I rotated the board continuously, not even sure if it was meant to be vertical or horizontal. Literally, I wasn't sure which way was up! Kind of fitting for the searching the questioning of life in general, huh?

💚In painting, and in life, layers are applied, scrubbed away, reapplied, and reexamined. At certain points I thought that the message I was receiving & expressing might be more about branches, vines, thorns, fragility, or a need for a deep anchoring source (heavy black lines). I just kept showing up and working through the promptings, layering colors, shapes, and lines. All the while, I was contemplating the context. When the ”eye” appeared, I knew the message was somehow about vision.

💚What is my vision? What is my goal in this season? Brandon Heath’s song See Me Through It seemed quite appropriate. Through the layers of life, no matter the season, I trust that God WILL see me through it. I believe that He will escort me through it, and that He will have His eye on me for His purpose, for His plan, for His ultimate glory!

💚Notes/ Thoughts I pondered as I painted…

✅️The seasons of life are layered.✅️ Change is inevitable – scary – and yet beautiful. ✅️Questioning the outcome is futile, as it’s not for me to know.✅ All the colors and lines and shapes twist and turn and morph and fade-- but still shine through. ✅ Layers of learning are required.✅️ Parts and pieces complete the composition and impact us and others in times and ways that are yet unknown to us.✅️He sees, He knows, He holds it all together.

💚 In closing, my husband built a custom frame for this painting I named See Me Through. He described the frame as having “corners that fit together like a puzzle!” How perfect!
