If you know me at all, you are well aware that I love flowers. I like having them around me. Always. They elevate and enhance not just a space, but also my mood. I had a bouquet of roses encircled in greenery. And while the flowers were gorgeous, they eventually wilted and had to be pulled from the vase. But the greenery was still quite vibrant. It even smelled great! There is something alluring about the color green that feels healthy and fresh, and symbolizes growth. I found the leaves' shapes, colors, and patterns to be lovely, and I started sketching. Here's what I learned/realized/remembered while working on the painting that became Secret Garden…Filler greens are fabulous. Supporting stems are stunning. On. Their. Own! I must not overlook the background/basics/building blocks of life. Busyness often mutes beauty. If I just take the time to really see what is often overlooked as ordinary or mundane, I find that God is indeed in the details. Seeds of beauty abound! The secret to finding beauty is just to notice and appreciate the seemingly simple stuff. Tend the garden and it will grow.
