May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:13-15) There is something sturdy and grounding and so comforting about this neutral palette and the simplicity of the shapes forming the cross pattern. This rustic painting, reflecting the childlike faith upon which salvation is founded, is an humble homage to my Savior’s love for me. The cross, the emblem of suffering and shame, is even more so the symbol of Christ’s ultimate sacrificial gift of salvation to all believers. It is a symbol so very dear to my heart. It pervades my art as it is ever present in my thoughts. Christ hung there in nakedness, shouldering our shame and guilt, that we might stand victoriously in His robes of righteousness! He died that we might live…abundantly and eternally with Him.
