🧡 When I started Chapter and Verse, it was going to stay in monochromatic oranges. As you can see, the palette and pattern expanded exponentially. This little gem has so much going on in just 16” x 12”! Layer upon layer, the image evolved. It displays nearly every color possible, and a plethora of media too.
🧡 When I'm creating a work of art, elements often appear that require further research to learn why they're there. I search for their meaning, their code, their message. What am I to learn and/or share? This time, it was two dots that had me puzzled. WHY were they presenting so prominently, and even twice? This really had me baffled for a while. I clearly saw the dots as a colon punctuation mark, but why was a colon making an appearance in my art? Bear with me as I share where my mind went.
🧡 The colon is for connecting and explaining closely related ideas. What follows the colon is central to, completes, or explains what precedes it. The colon is a connector of essential information. It’s also used for stating the time (Hour: Minute) and for stating Bible verses (Chapter: Verse).
🧡 All of this suddenly made sense to me! I often base my art on scripture (Chapter: Verse) that speaks to me at very specific times (Hour:Minute). The message spoken to my heart through the Word of God closely represents/is central to/explains and expands my art.
🧡 Chapter and Verse seems an appropriate title for the second panel in my Mixed Emotions Series. Chapter and Verse :
