I usually listen to music when I’m painting. Cory Ashbury’s song The Father’s House plays frequently and sums up the message of this piece beautifully. The title of the painting is pulled straight from the bridge of the song. If you aren’t familiar with it, I encourage you to check it out. I often feel at the mercy of the process – same as in life. I remind myself repeatedly that I am only required to show up. I am merely the vessel of His purpose. As a steward of any gifts I’ve been given, my job and joy is to tune in to His will and way, and then let it flow. What emerged here in the center of this canvas is what came to look like a paint brush to me, which was a wink of wisdom. Like a flowering bud it pushed through! I trust that God will fulfill His purpose for me and my creative bent. I go to the studio, and He meets me there. Love is indeed breaking through when the Father’s in the room. Whatever your life’s “studio” is, just meet Him there. Love will always break through!
