For all you lovers out there who believe that there is beauty in imperfection, I present My Funny Valentine. From the onset of this 4th leaf in a series of 5, I just wanted to PLAY with it and allow it to become whatever it wanted to be. I was determined to release all expectations and simply explore. This quirky sketch is for all the optimistic dreamers who gaze up into the clouds and seek to find their fantasies however fabulously flawed. As you observe the piece, can you see that there is someone offering his heart? What a bold move! I believe Valentine's Day expectations are inherently doomed unless you are the type who both realizes and relishes that love, like ourselves, is perfectly imperfect. Symbolized by the green leaves tucked within the composition, love that is accepted, embraced, and nurtured, will flourish and grow.
