This painting in the series of Angels was created from a picture I took of shadows created by the same little wooden angel as the first 2 in the series. The angle of this composition was a bit different as it represented the cast shadow where light shown through the window and threw a distorted angel pattern on the wall. That shadow informed not only the subject’s placement but also the colors/mood. It somehow felt dark, even grave. But not mournful like death, rather powerful and hopeful like resurrection! One of my favorite songs of late is Rise Up (Lazarus) by CAIN. It could be the soundtrack to this painting. In the lyrics is the term “Resurrected Hearts” and so the piece was named.
